It could be said that these dark principalities and powers are created by and in the collective psyche of human beings, and thus projected on to the world stage.

If you examine the Christian world-view it is dualistic all-the-way-down and at root based on an unconscious war of the "spirit" vs the "flesh" or the body with the "flesh" being the source of all evil. At another level the "spirit" is associated with the power-and-control-seeking male principle, and the "flesh" with the feminine principle (and more concretely with women's bodies in particular) - hence the European witch burnings and the Medieval text The Hammer of Witches.

I recommend this paper that gives an introductory comparison of Aurobindo and Steiner - https://www.academia.edu/190001/Rudolf_Steiner_and_Sri_Aurobindo_An_Introductory_Comparison

You are right that politics has become a pseudo-religion. I am at peace, not because the outcome was necessarily what I wanted or because I think we’re out of the danger zone, but because I’ve put things in their proper order.

I attended Latin Mass today and the readings were from Col 3:12-17 and Mt 13:24-30, both very much relevant to the current climate and a healing balm as I head into the work week.
